Business Traveller’s Cellars in Sky Awards Silver Medal to Napanook 2007
British Airways received the Silver Medal in the Best First Class Red section of the Business Traveller Cellars in the Sky Awards last night for their listing of Napanook 2007. This means that of all the red wines served in First Class on 28 airlines Napanook was considered the second best.
The annual awards, which recognise the best business and first class wines served by airlines world-wide, were presented at Trinity House in London by Charles Metcalfe, co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge. 28 airlines entered the competition and blind tastings took place in London in December, with four judges independently scoring the wines.
The judges were:
Charles Metcalfe, co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge
Peter McCombie, Master of Wine and top restaurant wine consultant
Robert Joseph, author and wine critic
Richard Bampfield, Master of Wine and wine consultant
Napanook 2007 was served on the inaugural A380 route from London to LAX.
British Airways also won a Bronze Medal in the Best First Class Cellar award category (Napanook 2007 is classed as one of the wines in this cellar).
